Description

Home to a number of long, sport routes and a few long trad lines, this area of Castle Rock covers the rock from the Patina Atoll (11a) on the left to Red Rib (10a) on the right. Shade in the morning and sun by noon. The area can be busy on weekends and holidays.

Getting There

From the trailhead, take the trail/road to the left that leads west past the south side of Castle Rock. Look for a flagged sign for Red Rib along the south side of the rock and follow the trail and flagging up through a boulder field to this route.

Red Rib 5.10a  ID : Castle Rocks State Park : ... : Southwest Side
Red Rib is a long, beautiful, single pitch route up the SW ridge of Castle Rock. Great position and good exposure are it's strongest points. The crux is right off the ground but the climbing remains interesting and in the 5.9/10- range for most of the first ~150'. From here, it's an easier romp to the anchors. This route is a full 60 meter rope length. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in ID
