Description

This easy warm-up ascends a short buttress. This is Route #87 in D'Antonio (1999:46-47).

Location

From the roadside parking, this buttress is in the first side canyon on the left, ca. 125 yards from the road. Follow the side canyon about 50 yards, and the buttress is in the canyon bottom on the left, about 50 feet shy of a nice Ponderosa pine at the canyon head.

Protection

Three bolts to a top anchor with two cold-shuts.

This is a decent little route for someone to learn how to lead on but you might want to avoid exposing a new leader, especially if they are short, to the last few moves before the top anchors by placing extended over-the shoulder slings on each.
