All Ice Climbers
I'm sharpening ice screws with an aggressive tooth profile. I can also convert your old style BD's to new style. Grivel, Petzl, Omega and DMM can also be sharpened to an aggressive tooth profile.
A 4-axis CNC milling machine is used and the results are fantastic. The screws come out very sharp.
It's too expensive to run a CNC machine for a dozen screws. So twice a year, I collect all screws by a certain date and then run them all off as a single batch run. I keep everyone's screws separate of coarse.
This is the only way to keep costs down.

Next Batch Run: April 19 2013

I am interested- can you shoot me an email on price?

With using a CNC machine, does this heat the metal up to the point where the temper is altered?

Additional material for the reading impaired:

icescrewsharpening.com/home…:

The CNC machining process is cooled so NO HEAT is generated that could damage the heat treatment of the screw.

There are no heat problems. The process is cool with a flood of coolant.
It's $10 per screw + shipping.

I'm located near Montreal, Quebec but I do have a PO box just across the border in the States. Helps save you guys some hard earned cash in shipping. I collect them by the deadline date and then machine them the following week days. They get sent out the next weekend. It usually take a couple days for delivery on the east coast.

Clarification needed on shipping.

From US, will you be shipping from the US. that is, can I just enclose a priority mail pre-paid flat rate envelope?

Thanks.

Yes, I will ship it from where you sent it to.

Just watch out for prepaid labels. If they ask you for a return date and you put something down, I need to ship it on that day or there is trouble. Best is too send stamps or include the shipping in the payment. IIRC the prepaid envelopes are fine but just check with the cashier at the post office. There cannot be a return date issued.

Hope that helps if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask here

I got all my screws sharpened with this service last Fall and was stoked with the results. Definitely sharper than new screws. Well worth it.

Just received my screws back after the last batch run and my-oh-my they are sharp! The improvement is hard to imagine without seeing it. Obviously, since I just received them, I've not yet turned them in ice, but I'm convinced these are going to bite like never before. Psyched!

I also converted a stubby into a super-stubby, something I've wanted to have in my arsenal ever since I lived in New England and saw a couple of climbers with home-made conversions. It's way short, but well made (modified). Seems sort of like a #2 RP on your free-climbing rack--you both crave and fear having to use it...

Anyway, the quality of the workmanship appears excellent to me, and so if there are any fence-sitters out there, take this as an endorsement.

Same as above. Mine are super sharp. Like skin piercing sharp. I'm certain even factory new they weren't that sharp.

Haven't tested them yet, but I'm looking forward to it, also dreading hitting rock with them for the first time.

Overall, very smooth transaction, very affordable, and hopefully the screws bite as good as they look.

All screw must arrive by this date.
