Anyone know what the ice is like in the Southern Whites? I'm thinking off 93 so like maybe Rumney and Waterville Valley. I checked Neice and as of 12/7 things didn't seem good. Any updates?
I was the one who posted the Rumney update from 12/7 on NEICE. When I went through, there was literally no snow and nothing forming on the parking lot wall (didn't hike around to look at the higher stuff). We got some snow and it's been cold, so I'd guess there is a little ice there now, but it's still probably not in very good condition.
In my experience, Newfound Lake ice tends to come in before Rumney, so you might check there. Lots of climbable ice elsewhere though, Crawford Notch, Lake Willougby, Smuggs, and even the Daks if you're up for a trip.
