I've been out to the Ibex and Crystal Peak area many times but thought I'd ask about any cool camping spots people have discovered near Ibex.

Any gems out there someone is willing to graciously share?

Have you been north into the House Range? Either the west or the east side has some decent options. High clearance and 4wd help. Running water can be found.

Yeah, the House Range is a sweet area! However, I'm looking for stuff south of the highway, closer to Ibex.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Crystal Peak is pretty cool. To get there from Ibex you kinda drive by the area James calls Masada has a nice piņon forest which would shield from the wind. And hey, ginormous cliffs to explore.

The escarpment that makes up the main area of Ibex has a few small but cool areas on its south and west sides. A few of these have little corridors of rock to play on and shelter from the wind.

Across the valley from there is the canyon and huge pinions that make up Fossil Mountain. The redneck potential picks up a bit over there and the kids love the fossil shell beds down in the creek. You can go uphill and look for more advanced fossils but kinda need to read up and know what to look for.

There used to be a super cool blog called 'Desertisnands.org' but the guy got tired of paying for it and let it go. He had so many cool trip reports about the springs and mines and little nuggets of cool out in the West Desert and eastern NV. Pretty amazing stuff.

It's definitely an intriguing area, and Crystal peak is awesome with great camping in the pinions...there are some badass fossil beds to the SE of Crystal Peak as well. I haven't explored the Fossil Mountains, I'll have to add that to the list!
