I'm trying to make home made clothing wind proof & water resistant / waterproof.

Many mechanics use gloves coated with nitrile to protect against oil and grease; these are the classic $2 cotton gloves painted blue / black.

Is some sort of similar coating material available that I can paint onto my clothing? Scotchguard doesn't seem to do the trick and isn't that cost-effective.

To coat the seat of my pants, breathability isn't an issue, but it would be for other outerwear.

Has anyone had experience waterproofing clothes?

Or a LOT of Seam Grip.
