How to climb at the Gunks with out at Car?

Hey Y'all !

just moved up here from Asheville NC, as part of my move to the city I sold my car for a few months of rent :(. Now that climbing season is approaching what is the best way to get up to the Gunks with out a car?? also where is the best place to stay with out a car, the last time we camped at the multi use area but I for see getting there and to the cliffs without a car will be a challenge

You can take the NY Trailways bus to New Paltz which will put you just 6 miles short of where you wanna be. From there you can hitch a ride or get a cab I guess (not sure on cost). Also, rideshares/climbing partners organized from this site are common. I think a company in Brooklyn also exists to shuttle people up on the weekends.

As far as camping: if Slime is still open post-AAC, I'd say that's a good option (historically free with annual or day pass and right by the steel bridge in between the Trapps and the Nears). Otherwise it'll be a longer hike up from the new AAC campground and like $20/night or something (once it opens).
