Hi I have noticed that since I started contributing content that I am earning "points". How many points to avoid the $7.99 app charge and "earn" it? Thanks and sorry if this is answered elsewhere I just could not find.

Where on earth did you get the idea that this is possible?

What are the points for then?

Fun, being able to see at a glance who contributes a lot (not necessarily correlated with the people who contribute quality information), ego boosting, and absolutely nothing.

By the way, $7.99 is insanely cheap for what you get with the app.

I don't pay for apps. I have guidebooks. I am more using the site to keep track of my ticks. I think its cool that at the same time I'm contributing to a shared DB for like minded people. I kindof thought that after a certain points threshold maybe you would be considered as having "earned" the app. I know the old quote about assuming but this time I did it on purpose, being hopeful ;)

For someone that plans on traveling around the country I feel like you would instantly see the incentive to not having to carry around 50 guidebooks and get up to the minute beta/condition reports.

U know I hear everyone talking about doing rock climbing trips. I first started this May and live in Squamish. I believe one day i will take rock climbing trips. If you look at what I managed my first season I think I'll b fine staying in Squamish for at least a couple more. ;).

I've heard that spending a few straight formative climbing years in one region will make me climb that "style". I don't even know what that is but if I had to guess I'd say Squamish style is Slabby/Cracky Granite.

Anyways I'll keep adding my clean sends as I get them and enjoy knowing as long as this site is up I can look back on a list. Cheers and Climb On J5
