How do you repurpose your old climbing ropes?
|
I am working with a non-profit that repurposes a variety of different materials and I was asked the question what can old climbing ropes be repurposed for. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |

Turn it into a rug. There are multiple websites that either sell instructions or offer to create a rug out of you old rope for a $$$. If you have an old yoga mat that would help |

I'm about to retire a rope (although it is early and has tons of life left in it) |

Mine usually get used to the bitter end: lead rope>TR and route cleaning>fixed on some sketchy approach gully to hand over hand> cut up and in the trash. I would like if the nylon got recycled though. I am just not awarehow that could be done in a practical way. |

donating old ropes to route developers who may use em to send up hand lines is the best idea IMO ... |

I bet this guy will be glad to have an old worn out rope. |

has anyone figured out a good way of making a rope bag out of the old rope to hold the new rope? |

Scratching post for my kitties. Wrapped tightly around a 4x4, they love it! |

used an old rope to hang speakers in the living room |

I've never thrown away an old rope. I have sold a bunch of them for $10-20 on craigslist for non-climbing uses (rafting/kayaking, tow ropes, tie downs etc - there are plenty of non-climbers out there who use ropes for all sorts of things. |

Drag line for hauling dirt-filled buckets in cave digs. |

I turned one into a nice rug/doormat, and I always keep ~100 ft. of climbing rope tucked away with the jack and spare tire of my cars. |
