Hi everybody, I just got a job in Vail and am looking to move there as soon as possible, so I wanted to see if anybody had some advice on where to look for housing around there. Is it better to try to stay in Vail, or are the surrounding towns (Avon, Edwards, etc.) more fun to live in? I've been looking on craigslist, but if you know of any other places to look, that'd be great. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
I am also looking for climbing partners in the area, so if you are down to climb let me know! Probably mostly on the weekends, and I am down for sport and trad and the occasional bouldering.
Thanks!

Hey Andi - housing is tough in the Vail valley! Although I've only been here since last summer its my understanding that housing starts to open up a bit after the ski season ends. All of the towns are really close to each other so wherever you can find an affordable place to live is probably good. Minturn is really sweet town - definitely check it out. Let me know if I can help in any way!

I've lived in Summit county for a while. Housing is about to start opening up because the seasonal ski kids are going to leave. Spring and fall are the best times to find a place. Like Scott said all the Towns in the Vail Valley are really close together maybe a 15/20 minute drive from Vail to Dotsero. I've seen alot in Eagle and Avon open up over the years (affordable*). Check out the VAIL DAILY the local newspaper too.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
