Anyone know anything about this spot in Westford? Kind of outside my home range but I came across some pictures and they look worth checking out for locals:

They are on public land there are supposed to other boulders nearby.

That's the biggest boulder I've ever seen. Is that in Westford CT? I passed by there on the way to Chatfield Hollow today. I wouldn't mind a detour to see some huge boulders.

They are absolutely massive. The biggest one has a couple lines that would be big and bad ass kind of bordering on the line of high ball or worthy of bolts since there aren't any crack features on it. with a little craftyness you could put a top rope on most of the faces. The smaller one has some fun to hard slab problems a fun hand crack and a few other probably hard but rad high balls. Scattered throughout the woods there are probably 6 to ten other very sizable rocks. There is chalk out there now and again but i've never seen another soul out there. If you live in the area its a nice short walk in. A great place to cruise the hiking trails with the dogs and get a couple moves in.

Should have added that they were in MA in the original post. Just shows how Masshole-a-centric I am.

They certainly look huge. Wish there were rocks that near Cape Ann.

Jim

P.S. That picassa page has a several boulders in CT too, I think.

Do you know what part of Westford these boulders are in (Graystone, Forge Village, East Boston Camps, etc.)? I live relatively close to Westford so I can post some directions if I can find them

Sorry to hear that, John. Your FAs have given me enough heart attacks over the years though.

Hope you are back on the wall soon!

I hiked in there today and took some pictures.

The largest boulder.

The back show features on the arete that look climbable. There's a ladder there if you need it.

This is a nice but short crack in the boulder next to the largest one.

Farther south in the area there is a vertical ledge on one side of the ridge line. It wasn't more than 6 feet tall where I was viewing it but it appeared to get taller a bit farther down. It might get up to 10 feet, but I only saw it from the top so I don't know if it has any potential.

Deadball V13 anybody? Seriously though, be careful to stay on the trail when hiking in to these boulders. I was there this weekend and on the hike in after about 200 yards I walked left off the trail to look at some smaller boulders and accidentally walked onto private property. Do NOT leave the trail during the beginning of the hike to look at the boulders on the left, awesome as they may be. The private property signs are a little misleading, so as a general rule if you can read them youre on private land. It'd be a shame to have access banned to a place like this, lets not make the people who live here mad at us!

first ever highball boulder problem. v0 in the buttermilks

These boulders look awesome.. I live in Littleton 10 maybe 15 minutes away. Is there a designated parking area for these boulders? Definitely gonna check these out

There's parking at the end of Saw Mill Rd. Follow the path to the left when the sign indicates the trail goes right. It's a short hike to the boulders.

Mass has an online GIS database which you guys might be able to use to verify property lines.

Checked these boulders out today. Very cool monoliths but fairly featureless....til I saw these man made holds!!! Disappointing that people still chip holds.

5.6? 5.7? Fun climb was easier to solo then to lead...Not sure of the climb its on the right of the trail if coming from the slabs to round pond...

I scoped these rocks like two years ago not much looked like it would go... Are you sure these are chipped? I don't recall anything that looked like chipping and not many people even climb these or in the area really....
