Climb4Life is a national series of climbing and hiking events that raise money for ovarian cancer research and awareness initiatives through the HERA Women's Cancer Foundation. Whether you are a novice or a professional athlete, Climb4Life is an incredibly fun weekend of outdoor activities, parties, and giveaways that benefits a great cause.

HERA Founder and avid climber Sean Patrick started Climb4Life in 2002 while recovering from her seventh ovarian cancer surgery. She felt that a climbing event would put a different face on ovarian cancer and get more people involved in the cause. Thanks to Sean and all the volunteers, participants, donors, and sponsors, Climb4Life events have been a huge success, raising almost $800,000 dollars for HERA. Sadly, Sean passed away in January 2009 from complications related to ovarian cancer. She was a remarkable woman who profoundly touched many lives, and we honor her life and legacy by continuing the Climb4Life events and setting our fundraising goals even higher!

The dates have been finalized for the 6th Annual HERA Women's Cancer Foundation Climb4Life Colorado 2012! This awesome event will take place this year on June 22 & 23 in Boulder, CO.

I am posting to let you know about the volunteer opportunities we have available. Right now I am looking for people who are interested in taking a leadership role in the planning process as a Committee Chairperson, but please also let me know if you are interested in volunteering for a specific committee or volunteering goods or services for the event.

The seven committees that comprise the Organizing Committee are:

-Promotion & Marketing Committee
-Registration Committee
-Hiking / Climbing Committee
-Relaxation / Volunteer Committee
-Party Committee

Please e-mail me for details about the roles, estimated time commitments, and individual committee responsibilities.

Best regards,

Julie Hauser

As someone who was heavily involved in the planning and volunteered at the first 4 Climb4Life events in CO, I can say that being part of this event as a volunteer is really rewarding.

I met cool people who remain good friends, I helped raise money, I helped shape the event, I met ladies battling this disease and the event participants who helped those women with their fight.

It's a lot of work, but I strongly encourage you to participate as a volunteer or a climber at the event.

To take someone else's slogan: It's the toughest job you'll ever love!

As a participant these past couple years, I’ve been impressed with how well run and organized the event is, and how much care, effort and planning goes into it. This year, I’ll have to check it out from the volunteer side.

HERA brings a whole new level of meaning to climbing, as that event participants get to spend a day outside doing what they love to do – climbing! – while promoting such a worthwhile cause – ovarian cancer research/awareness. I look forward to being a part of it in 2012.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
