Description Suggest change

This climbing area is visible as you look south from interstate 10 as you head east from the low desert (Palm Springs/Indio) towards Phoenix. The approach road to the crags may be sandy, and a 4WD drive may be advisable. There are a handful of climbs that have been established in this area. Of the two areas (Hayfield and Eagle Mountain), Hayfield has the most climbable rock by far.

Getting There Suggest change

Get off at the Hayfield exit, and parallel the freeway along a dirt road that has some powerlines or telephone poles for a mile or so as you travel east.. When you can see the crags, head south in a sandy wash; here is where the 4 wheel drive section might be. Drive directly up to the largest crags and park.
