Description
Most of these crags are pretty shaded as they are in a forested area. There are various crags in this area which are reachable from the same parking lot. There is also a via ferrata (Klettersteig) here called Hohenglücksteig if you're looking for some more "civilized" climbing. ;-) Below are driving directions. For hiking directions, follow the directions on the individual area descriptions. The map marker points straight to the parking area. The location of the crags located within this region are indicated on the maps in each individual area description.
Getting There
Drive to Hirschbach, which is east of Nürnberg and north-east of Hersbruck. You'll drive through Eschenbach on your way to Hirschbach from Nürnberg. When leaving Hirschbach heading east, drive towards Kirchenreinbach. After 1.4km there's a road that turns hard left towards Hauseck. Park on the side of this smaller road.
The Classics
Mountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Hauseck Region:
This route is the easiest route rated as a 5 that I've ever done. It's so close to 4th class it's ridiculous. Most normal people (ie. not climbers) free solo this, so don't even bother with the rope or shoes. You can do this! :)The red line in the pictures guide you, but you can pretty much just take the easiest possible route to the top.The route name means "Normal Way"....[more]Browse More Classics in International
