Getting a good shake out and rest before moving in...

Description

The far left side of the Grotto hosts what was at one time a coveted project in Diablo (Ojo), and a few more recent sport climbs have been added. At least one crack climb worth doing is up here too.
This portion of the cliff is shaded in the morning and sunny in the afternoon.

Vaino Kodas put up 3 of the climbs in this area, and a photo detailing these routes can be found on the Grotto page of his website , along with route descriptions of those climbs.

Getting There

This is the on the left side of the Grotto, at the far end. Keep going upcanyon past the Evil Paradise Area, and you'll get there. Few climbs at Diablo are this far away from your car, so you'll probably be alone up here.

Access the base of the route via a short fourth class scramble up the small ridge below the route or hike around the ridge and back up. From the belay platform, edge out left and up to clip the first bolt in a green, lichen-covered face. Side pull your way up to the big, comfy ledge. From the big ledge, climb cracks up and left past the second bolt ...[more]   Browse More Classics in NM
