Description

There are several fine boulders littering the bottom of the canyon in the vicinity of the Grasshopper Point day use area, providing many bouldering opportunities on good black and tan sandstone. This is a great fall/winter spot; summer can be too hot and spring runoff blocks access to some of the problems. Bring a swimsuit and take a dip in the creek as long as you're here!

Getting There

Park at Grasshopper Point and walk down to the creek. The boulders are in various spots.

Big Arete V4 6B  AZ : Northern Arizona : ... : Second Area
Looming behind the other boulders is this tall, beautiful arete. Climb it by the right side. Start on the obvious large jug and pull past a gaston in the face into slippery laybacks on the arete and a committing move to the lip. Scoot right a bit and haul yourself over the top.
