Heading to Liberty Ridge next week and wondering if anyone has GPS waypoints for key landmarks, specifically St Elmo Pass, Curtis Ridge camp, Thumb Rock, Liberty Cap, and Camp Schurman. You never know when you'll end up in a whiteout, so I thought it would be nice to have them for backup.

Hey Greg, have fun man. You don't have a UTM grid to find it on your map? If you know Pete at the Chalet you should give him a holler. They did a car-car ascent last year and I bet he'd still have it.

Thanks for the input guys.

JLP, I've had accuracy issues trying to pull coordinates off Google Earth in the past. Have you done so successfully? Any trick I might be missing?

Jeremiah, I'm in touch with Pete but he didn't track his climb.

Just make sure you use the same datum or you'll have an error. Then if your map is nad27, make sure your gps is set to that also.. You'll need to know what datum google Earth is using too, if you pull coordinates off of there.. You should study nav a little or having the points may not help much.

Hadn't thought about the datum. It took some digging, but I found that Google Earth uses WGS 84 and I wasn't. thanks!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
