Getting There
About 9.5 miles from Silverton. Located just around the corner from Eureka. Follow road up hill from the camping at Eureka. Road will turn left around a corner. Animas River drops steeply to the right here. Buttress will be on the left after the corner. Faint climbers trail goes up through grass. 20 min. walk (uphill). There's parking for one car on the right across the river from a pile of mine tailings - up the road from the climbers trail. (Walk back down the road toward Eureka to access trail. Avoid the willows.)
