Governor Stable requires membership or a paid pass. The Circuit Area is currnetly closed to all climbing while access to the area is negotiated. Please respect the closed / no tresspassing signs posted near the pyramid. The rest of GS proper remains open to members and daypass holders. MORE INFO >>>
Due to the fact that Governor Stable is located on private property, a lease was secured with the landowners. The terms of this lease state that GS is open from 1/1 thru 8/31 of 2011, 2012, and 2013. No information is available regarding climbing access after 2013! DO NOT TRESSPASS when the area is closed to climbing, you could jeopardize access for the future. See friendsofgs.org/ for the latest details.
This information is a public crowdsourcing effort between the Access Fund,
and Mountain Project. You should confirm closures, restrictions, and/or related dates.

Keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment

Description Stand start with two good underclings. Move up the arete choosing from a variety of holds and body positions. Get to the good holds near the top, and top-out with a heel. There are a ton of ways to do this problem, and it's a good warm-up before heading to the other areas. You might want to avoid trying to smear on the glassy face, because this part of the rock is not your typical diabase frictiony smear.
Location This is the arete that the trail passes just at it is leaving the Warm-up area.
Protection A pad or two and a spotter for the top-out. Although it's not tall, you wouldn't want to fall into the woodpile at your back.
By skinny legs and all From: Salt Lake City, Utah Feb 2, 2013 rating: V1
| The starting left kneebar and security of the large handholds make this climb stand out in addition to the very rare glassy diabase I have seen maybe two or three times before and only in the remotest of locations. |
