Looks like halfway up that sweet purple route on the yellow wall, our intrepid hero decides to do the Largo. Guess she can't put that onsight on her 8a anymore.

Climbing at the Belvedere crag near Nago with a great view of the northern end of Lake Garda and the town of Torbole sul Garda below. June 2013.

Must have been at least 30m of rope out for that kind of stretch. :-) At least the tie-in knot held.

Oh hello,

I'm Brittany in the video and to clear the air for all of you:

The climber, belayer and ect. had no idea this was going to happen.

The "spectator" was looking at it and thought everything was ok, until I actually hit then bench.. a.ka. why everyone was still smiling at the end.

The person who was filming said, "Eric,Are you okay".. Eric is actually my brother and she was saying in context, "ERIC, OH SHIT... then asking me if I was okay.

Yeah, it was stupid, but it was a great experience. The only reason it didn't work was because there was too much slack and I didn't climb high enough. They told me I could have stopped where I did, that's why I didn't go any higher, not because I can't do it.

BTW, just because I'm heavier doesn't mean I can't kick ass.

the original video said ...

The youtube video itself says in the comment section: "Attempted to do a rope swing at the rock climbing gym..."

note that this was right after some people posted some "hardcore" rope swing vids ;)

We had a rope swing day when it was rainy in RRG. We set a TR on an overhanging route, and once you made it to the second bolt, you jumped off. One person in our group didn't climb high enough before she peeled, and she ended up clipping the deck before swinging out. Good times...
Figured it was either intentional or you tied into the wrong TR anchor without realizing it.

LOL FAIL!!

that's why we don't let people rope swing at my gym or TR from the anchors on the overhang "lead" wall...This is how bystanders get hit by people TRing like that...

Watched this happen in real life a year or so ago, one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Don't ever ask for slack so you can get a bigger running start.

Looks like the route was lead first, and then she tied into the leader's end rather than following below the clips. The rope goes from the belayer diagonally to the first clip.

Me eating a cliff bar walking back from Frankenstein Amphitheater

I build a rope swing out of an autoblock and a carabiner. I attach the biner to the belay loop. The kids love it and it keeps the childrens entertained inside and out while the parents climb. After watching that I thank God I've never hurt anyone's kid now!
