This obvious series of adjacent fins sits about a mile down the tracks from the parking area at the west bound rest stop. One of the largest and most concentrated crags along the tracks, the Edge offers around 20 routes here with a wide variety of grades and styles. The namesake climb starts only 20' or so above the tracks and ascends the obvious crack splitting the downhill (southern) prow on the tallest rib. The majority of the routes lie around the corner to the left (west).

Someone with a good area photo should post it!!!

Getting There

From the west bound rest area pullout on the interstate, hike back east along the tracks for around a mile and the formation will be the obvious major series of fins immediately north of the tracks.

A pleasant featured face to the top of the upper fin. Start with some slabby moves on rounded features to better holds and a steep finish on great (albeit thin) chickenheads and plates. Pull with care on these cool features as this is Butte rock!...[more]   Browse More Classics in MT
