Getting to New Economy Cliff in Clear Creek Canyon

Hello, I am taking a trip to Clear Creek canyon in early August and I have bought the guidebook and have been doing route research. From what I understand, the New Economy Cliff must be accessed by swimming across. Are the water levels high or low currently? Is it safe to wade across right now? Thank you.

There are easier approaches, and IMO better crags in clear creek than New Economy. Check out Little Eiger, wall of the 90's, Primo wall, crystal tower, etc.

Water levels are low (we are in an extreme drought) but check out some of the other crags mentioned.

Yeah there are a ton of awesome crags i agree! I am just so blown away by all the amazing looking climbing that i wanted to try and get a taste for all of it. Its only a 4 day trip though so I agree that it would probably be best to stick with the more popular areas with easier access.

Thanks for all your responses!

that is awesome. i dont know of many climbers other than myself that would make CCC a destination. Welcome!

Looks like you are wanting to chase the shade, being that New Economy faces north. As others said above, don't waste your time there. The trick is working the first and second shifts to the crags, since the approaches are so quick.

Judging from your profile, I would recommend you hit Little Eiger, Wall of 90s or Anarchy in the mornings (don't miss Wet Dream or Anarchitect) and Wall of Justice (Great Escape) or Primo in the afternoon (Sucking My Will to Live, Ken Tanks,). You will probably want to check out New River Wall as well for one of the canyon's best 13a's, Sonic Youth.

Oh and no Clear Creek experience is complete without a visit to Creekside (100 Proof/Macho Borracho). and Guppy
