Getting to LCC from Cruces

It looks like it is theoreticaly possible to take a "straight" path from Cruces to last chance on a mess of forest roads. Is it worth the effort or should I drop into Texas and come in south of Carlsbad?

Hey kenny. I know there is a back way in that most of the folks from el paso take. I think it is quicker but it requires clearance and can be muddy if it's been raining. I'm sure your jeep would be fine though. Let me know how it is if you get out there. I'd like to check it out.
