Did it come with a Volvo and Starbucks gift card? When you get fed up with the mac os just toss yellow dog on it and go nuts.

Wow. I know that climbers are, as a rule, a fairly well educated group of people. This is especially true when you compare climbers to other groups of people who regularly sleep in parking lots.

But I am incredibly impressed by how many people have mentioned Linux. I've seen several posts on Ubuntu (no surprise there), one on Fedora, and one on Yellow Dog.

Now I'm curious to know if I'm the only one who does this: I put rock climbing stickers all over my laptops and Linux stickers on my climbing gear.

PC

Now, I think everyone should go back and say what they do for a living. PCs rule the mainstream corporate business world.

I was floored at the number of folks saying they had a Mac.

If you guys all came back and said you worked for Fortune 500 companies, I'd have to seriously reevaluate my stock holdings.

You're right, PC's totally dominate the all of the big businesses that I interact with!

On the way to the top of Owen's first peak.

(Engineer Mountain near Durango)

WOW, I am surprised so many people are on Macs. This site is atypical of the average computer user.

I guess I should start color correcting pictures for this site for Mac users.

For instance... this picture looks just like the slide on my PC at home but looks over saturated and a little yellow on my mac at work.

To be fair, the light on those rocks was incredible (It is the Sushine Wall after all) but not quite to the extent that it displays on my mac at work. Those of you on a mac... does it look too over the top to you also?

Thanks for your help,
Brad

Brad,

FireFox 3 will have the ability to read ICC profiles, just Safari. In 3.0 it's going to be disabled by default but I expect it will be turned on by default at some point during the lifetime of 3.0.

I own both but I avoid using my PC if at all possible. I need it for business purposes but that is all I can stand it for. I have 2 words.. god damn pop ups. Cant say I ever get those on my MAC.

The Goods. Ice and a dash of Club. Now get on with it.

Call me crazy, but I like things that work relentlessly even after much abuse.

AK47's, Hilti's, and Macs....lol.

then again...I am a pixel-wrangler by trade.

Beer Anyone?

PC work & AZ - Fish empire ONLY runs MAC even if that means we cant use simple programs or applications.

I saw that some people out there are running some old machines. We've got a stock load of old Macs (just in case of what who knows). Anybody need a board, some memory?

I work mostly with Creative Suite, and I have run it on a pc and mac. My opinion is that they both have their strengths and weakness, and it ultimately boils down to which system you feel more comfortable with.

I'm not, however, impressed with Vista.

i bought a refurbished on from the apple website for a pretty good discount and it still comes with the full warranty.

OK all you mac users. I am currently typing away at my very first mac ever. I'm a little confused but I'm figuring it out. But how do I right click? Or it's equivalent?

Hold the CTRL button and click is the right-click equivalent.

Get a bluetooth mouse with 2 buttons and a trackwheel for mac. I hate that they don't ship 2 moue buttons on a laptop.

I am pretty high up in IT for Newmont Gold, which is a fortune 500. I mostly use HP/UX at work, but at home I connect from and do all my work from a Mac. There is almost nothing I do at work I can't do on a mac.

Full disclosure, I also have a box in a datacenter I use for my blog and other development projects that runs Ubuntu.
