Melts in your Mouth
Thumbs Up
Know the location of this area? Show us! We don't know it, but we're working on cool new features that need it!

This small but worthwhile east-facing crag sits almost directly across the Gorge from the Dilithium Crystal, and while not as popular as some of the better known crags has a handful of routes well worth checking out. Recommended routes here include Melts in your Mouth (5.10c), Escapade (5.11a) and Thumbs Up (5.11c) which all feature great rock and an abrupt change in character at some point on the climb.

Getting There

Approach via the Central Gorge or Upper Gorge approach as it's about midway between the two. The wall sits almost directly across from the stellar Dilithium Crystal.

Enjoyable moves up vertical rock on mostly positive holds comprise the lower crux, but brace yourself for the dicey slab moves (5.10+) near the top of the route which can throw you off if your footwork isn't dialed. A stellar route, and the easiest of the Tom Herbert "E" routes, all of which are excellent. T...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
