I'm looking to sharpen (haha) my drytooling skills in preparation for the coming mixed season. Does anyone know of any good practice areas in and near the Front Range where folks won't mind use of crampons and tools?

There is a spot by the Bear Lake trail in RMNP, but everything looks pretty hard. You could possible set up a top rope and do these. I was there last month so you can pm me for details.

Thanks Ali! I have heard about the Bear's Den. I was hoping to find something a bit closer to Boulder, but maybe that is the best bet.

Folks used to dry tool up left of the upper ice area in Boulder Canyon upstream from Castle Rock. It's not open for bolting, though.

Just dry tool the never forming ice flows in CCC.
