The largest buttress at Frodsham, Great Wall, with...
Known to climbers as as "Frodsham" but this small crag is actually on the north side of Woodhouse Hill. The rock is good quality sandstone - often overhanging but with large holds and pockets. It's usually decribed as a bouldering venue, but some of the buttresses are quite tall (up to 35' high) and some landings are poor, so top-roping is also common. The crag faces north-west and is well-shaded by trees, so tends to be green, but gets the sun from mid-afternoon.
Park at the start of the Sandstone Trail (Overton Hill). Across the golf course, turn left, passing some very green bits of rock. Follow the path beside the fence at the edge of the golf course. Where the fence bends sharp left drop down right to the first (most eastern) buttress.
