Friends and Family Wall Rock Climbing

The Friends and Family Wall is the lowest portion of the towering Redstein formation. This user-friendly slab is a great little hangout with excellent scenery, flat belay stances, and long, closely bolted, moderate climbs. The style is comparable to the long slab routes of Wall Street albeit with cobbles and better protected. The base is a bit exposed to the sun; however, so it is probably best in the spring and fall or in the evening.

Much like the Redstone Boulders, all of Redstein consists of conglomerate sandstone, a beautiful, Seuss-like formation with lightly colored bands and impacted pebbles and cobbles to pinch and grab, some of which are slipperier than you would like! There is plenty of choss, so bring a helmet and beware. Otherwise this a a great little collection of easy-ish climbs. Marvel at the great roof directly above with its unclimbed bolted line directly through the center.
