Well, if you have this much info, even if paypal cannot do anything, it seems like the police might be able to help. You know his name, you have that he confirmed receiving your payment, and you have an email from the guy he actually traded the cams to confirming that he traded the cams to him. Also, since the guy that he traded the cams to seems cooperative, perhaps he would be able to provide the address that he shipped the cams too, since it was a trade. He may be hesitant about this, so getting police involved would lend some legitimacy. It was stupid to use gift, as someone pointed out earlier, it is screwing paypal for the service they are providing, and it puts you in this situation. I think there is still a chance that this guy is just a total slacker (perhaps I am judging him by his picture), and will get back to you soon (but I wouldnt hold my breath, contact the police). So you both paid gift and paid the paypal fee? If you pay gift you don't need to include anything for a paypal fee, he will not be charged. Regardless, gift is a bad idea, don't ever agree to it. I assume you have gotten that by now, sorry to harp on it. Last, your posts are PAINFUL to read, the worst grammar I have ever seen. I know this is the internet, I am not asking for graduate level writing, but if you are asking for help from others, at least proofread once.

Why in your sound mind, would you criticize some ones grammer that is obviously seeking some advice. Just remember JERK there is always sombody a hell of alot more educated, inteligent & compassionate then your lowly little self. Guys like you make want to puke. I wouldnt be surprised if your some punk colledge boy who is probably sitting on his ass looking for a job. Or better yet probably to lazy to work!

WHOA! Ellingwood, chill the fuck out. I don't really feel the need to respond to your silly post. I kind of feel like critiquing your spelling of "colledge," "inteligent," "sombody," "some ones," and "grammer," and your use of "your" instead of "you're," but I won't. Your post was very presumptuous and hateful. My post was quite helpful, at the end I suggested he proofread. I suggest you do the same.

Oh and to instead of too. Probably a lot more jewels in there.

aol.com is the #1 worst, you point out the others right behind(great descriptions BTW) and then you have the ole yahoo accounts running a close third.

AOL is THE classic old man address

Trust me, you don't want your own domain unless you own our company's domain and can use that, too. I own my own domain and everyone is either sketched out by it, thinks it's fake, or immediately thinks it's spam.

My domain isn't even something stupid, it's more or less just my name.

Glad you got your money back! People like that kill the buy/sell experience on MP. I have never had a problem with it...ever. The 'honor system' here on MP needs to stay in tact. Thanks for selling him out. Giving out all his info helped your cause for sure. Mark Wyss

Glad you got your money back. Maybe he is not all bad, just slow, dumb, and lazy.

For those of you that don't understand paypal fees:

If you don't link a bank account as a buyer you will pay fees to use paypal (that is why mcp paid $2.77).

If the buyer doesn't send the money as a personal transaction then the seller pays a fee. Since the fee only benefits the buyer, I and many other people who sell things on MP usually passed the fee onto the seller if the seller wants to do a protected paypal transfer.

When I am selling, I explain very carefully how the buyer should do it without the fee in an email when I agree on the price. If they are not ok with it, they can pay the fee or not make the deal.

If both parties are trustworthy then a personal transaction usually works out fine (has for me about 30 times). If something goes wrong, there is no paypal protection, and there is no calling the cops, because you already recorded your transaction as a gift. There is no getting the money from paypal, because you elected not to use their service (no free lunch).

I usually check out their profile to make sure that they are a real climber and legit member of the site, so they won't just disappear.

Like Eric Rhicard said, if you don't pay the fee, don't expect a refund from paypal.

How about being too lazy to spell what is probably your goddamned native language correctly. You know, the one that you've probably been speaking and writing for the better part of two decades or more? I know, I know, twenty years of doing something every single day constantly while you're conscious is hardly enough time to master it. However, it's still not unreasonable at all to expect adults to spell words correctly. But hey, if you don't mind looking like your parents are siblings, maintain your current level of idiocy. There was nothing wrong with Paul's post. There is plenty wrong with yours.

Oh, and I'm glad your situation got resolved mcp. Learn a lesson from this.

Was there any explanation to go with the refund? Or was he just stressed about getting called out here?

Does it matter?
The guy traded some cams to guy #2 after selling them to guy #1 and acknowledging it.
And took 2 weeks to fix it.
Not someone I would/could trust reagrdless, because I wouldn't be inclined to believe his story.
It's not like he was gone or hospitalized, he's continued to do business here and he's been logged on.

I actually was referring to someone else mcp, not you. The guy that made the initial comment to Paul is who I was referring to. ellingwood was being a dick. Two wrongs don't make a right, this is true, but it pisses me off when people have the gall to call someone else and point fingers and can't spell a fucking five letter word correctly. I understand that some people have problems. I myself have a learning disability and dyslexia. Still though, I somehow manage the difference between too and to, you're and your, their and there, etc. This was not a miracle. It was possible through hard work. Paul B isn't being condescending. He politely suggested proofreading. Again, I will state that it is not unreasonable to expect adult Americans to type and speak English correctly. If you ever hope to get anywhere occupationally, (and if not and you're ok, you have my envy) go ahead and submit a resume or start emailing superiors with the drivel that you see in this forum. The argument to that is of course saying that this is only a forum, and when it counts, you can spell and speak correctly. That's like saying "I flail on 5.10 in the gym, but when it really counts outside, I focus on the specifics of technique so I can send hard."

Forgive me if I seem hostile; perhaps I am a bit hostile. It just pains me to see so many people that look like they don't give a shit. It's a real pet peeve. Perhaps some of the inability to discern whether someone is being condescending or not correlates to one's ability to decipher the difference between too and to. Not to worry though, if I'm being a dick, surely the dick police will have this stricken from the record. I'm still glad you got your money back, regardless of what you may think of me.
