Found 5/31 at Point Dume: Plastic grocery bag with some gear in it. A couple of biners, ascender, etc.. Tell me the brand of the jumar and the color of the tape on the gear and I'll get it back to you.

Mud.... I hear that the bolts are now missing from the top of PD.

True?

And its a Petzel Jumar with yellow tape.....

Haha nice try Guy! Close but no jumar for you.

Yes, someone chopped most of the TR bolts a while back. Not sure why..they were in decent shape for the most part. There's still a bomber 2 bolt anchor with rap rings above the middle of the beachside, as well as a two bolt anchor 15 feet down the beachside face you can set up on rappel, and two bolts up on top about 15 feet from any of the routes.

Oh... I got it wrong.... That Jumar has Blue tape. sorry- sometimes I forget the details regarding my equipment, cause I have so much.

Yes- my sources tell me that some Ranger/Land mgr will come up to you and tell you.... "climbing is not allowed" .....

Did you find this to be true????

Wrong again, but keep guessing!

I've never had anyone tell me climbing is not allowed there. I do know for a fact that installing bolts (including replacing old ones) is illegal there. They'll confiscate your gear and tools and write you a very expensive ticket.

Is it OK to pound pins?????

And I guess you can keep the Jumars.... All my gear is randomly marked, with the mark of the last owner.

True story.... one time the beautiful Jeni was leading one of the sport climbs there..... at her limit... she got the red point, and when she went to clip the top bolts some big muscle bound dude was setting up HIS top rope.... he refused to allow her to anchor in! With the noise of the surf pounding on the shore she was unable to relay her predicament to the climbers down on the beach. So she clipped in to some other bolts way back from the edge of the rock and pulled up the cord. Jeff is pretty smart and he figured something was amiss so he tied in and followed the pitch....TRAD STYLE. At the top Jeni was in tears. She explained what had gone down with mr. muscle ..... now Jeff is like 5.6 and 110 lbs soakin wet. He went ballistic and stormed down the trail to go confront the big dude....
I really wish I had been there, but I guess the 4 or 5 girls had to hold Jeff back......

Anyway I guess what i'm trying to say is this..... Sport climb anchors should be placed below the lip... out of reach of the Top Ropers. This will insure harmony .... and no Ranger boy will be able to chop em.

Mudd: good luck with finding the lost jumar's owner.... you are a good man for trying.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
