    Description

The first East Facing Basalt wall downstream of the Chiflo formation. Across from flow station and cable.

Local lore places Mike Roybal, Doug Bridgers and possibly others climbing here in the past. I found a single Leeper Z pin loosely placed in a crack at head height in the cave area. I lifted it out and then replaced it, but couldn't find it on a return visit. We have seen no signs on the climbs we have done so far. It is entirely possible some of these lines were done by those hardmen back in the day.

    Getting There

Hike down trail at Chiflo and head downstream looking for place to cross. Boulder hop is obvious at rapids mid way to wall. Wading at beach before gauging station is easy at low water. The overhead cable has snapped and recently fallen into the water

    Right facing corner between trees

    Baba D Sadhu 5.11b/c  NM : Taos Area : ... : Flowing Chi Wall
Right facing corner left of old cables anchor. Three distinct cruxes with varied climbing. Start in stiff finger crack with excellent pro to strenuous slab moves at lower corner. A few rests exist before final overhanging crux moves to anchor. Some exfoliating rock in steeper corner should clean up. Beautiful position and views. Some poison ivy at base was easily avoidable.A Sadhu is a holy man of Nepal. Often called Baba, meaning father or uncle. It...[more]   Browse More Classics in NM
