Flapper, I think.

So I was projecting Superfly in little cottonwood canyon yesterday and ended up going at it probably too long. I was trying the hard pull with the right hand crimp, when I came off I noticed the skin on the distal pad of my right forefinger was separated. Like a nice clean cut about 1/4" across. I noticed also that the epidermis seems to be separated from the lower layers, like a blister. I don't know that his qualifies as a true "flapper" and I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to get this healed up ASAP. I've been researching and have found about 5 different ways people deal with true flaps of skin that let go, but this is still attached superficially. I've got it bandaged with neosporin, but not sure if I have to give up on the skin. I can feel it separated from the flesh of the finger. No bleeding though. Any help would be awesome, first injury of this type for me.

Sounds like a blister to me and probably the faster you cut it open the sooner it will heal. It isn't going to reattach so leaving it as it is will just delay the dying process of the skin.

If your climbing the next few days super glue it down. If you are resting cut it off so your skin is ready to go when you can climb again.

Thanks you guys. Kinda what I was thinking. It's gonna be warm for a few days. Might as well cut it out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
