An area of scarce volcanic boulders just north of Bishop in the Volcanic Tablelands. Exploratory bouldering with many gems to be discovered.
Please drive slowly and respect the area, leave no trace and tread lightly as this is an undeveloped area. Let's keep it that way...
Take U.S. highway 6 north from Bishop a mile or so to Five Bridges Road on your left. Follow this past the aggregate plant and take your next right at the 4-way intersection onto Fish Slough Road. Past the ranch and after the pavement turns to dirt, take your first right across the brook and then a left soon after where the road forks. Good roadside boulders can be found if you follow the road north, passing the cattle guard. Exposed rockbands can be seen from here on the east (right) side of the road. Many boulders have come loose and placed themselves below on the hillside. Go take a look and see what you find.
Andy Patari hitting the lip on a short but classic problem, near Fish Slough Rd, north of Bishop, CA. Submitted By: Adam Winters on May 12, 2007
Follow the rail on the uphill side of the boulder to its apex with fun moves. Set up and dyno or do a long reach to the crimp/ledge and continue to the top. Pretty darned good!...[more]Browse More Classics in CA
