Folks,

I am coming down over christmas/new years to JTree. Will be there for a total of nine days and was wondering if anybody knows/has a good source for sufficient firewood for that time.
I know there are a enough stores to buy some, but maybe someone has/knows a better deal than that?

Thanks!

A few guys in town sell it, like on the north side of the 62 at the dog house builder, east of town past Sams Market.
In Indian Cove there is a house just down from the Ranger Station that has a sign out for firewood.
There are construction sites with plenty of cut offs to be had.
There are old homestead shacks that are about 2 beers away from being flattened Chuck Norris style. Drive out east of 29 palms and start looking.
The old standby, pallets. You know where to find them.
Guys sit with their pickup beds full of wood with a price on it around town. Have them drop it at your site. Pay after you get the wood into camp.

Colombian Crack

We were camping at Jtree once and this guy walks over and says he's leaving and there's some fire wood in his camp site we can have, some odd building scraps. So we roll over and grab them and throw them in our fire. A few minutes later this dude runs over and pulls the scraps out of the fire and starts screaming at us. It was the wood scraps he used to level his RV. We grabbed the wrong scraps! He was pissed and literally tore our fire apart to get his wood back. We walked over to the campsite the original guy had mentioned and found the scraps he left. We tried to tell the guy with the RV someone told us to take them but he just thought we were dicks. His generator wouldn't work if it wasn't level, etc.

Beer Anyone?

^^^^

Hahha ha Mike that's a funny story! We use crappy wood and mystery rocks to level our Skamper too! Hysterical, next time just ask the guy if he has the obligatory "water bottle" on his picnic table... if not, that site really isn't his and he needs to move along.

old 1/4" bolt.

Try Indian Cove on Sunday afternoon. Lots of abandoned firewood in campsites that campers don't care to take home.
