Finger/Forearm injury help

I was bouldering tonight for an hour and a half or so before I injured myself. I took about 35-45 minutes warming up before I started climbing a very fingery problem in the gym. I started working the problem and about 35 min later I tried one move that I hadn't quite worked out the beta for. It involved a 3/4 pad 3 finger crimp that I put most of my weight on. As I beared down on the hold I felt a pop about midway down my forearm and a sharp pain (I'd say 4 or 5 on the 1-10 scale). The pop occurred somewhere along the connection of the muscles and tendons that control the movement of my ring finger. The pop was not audible but I definitely felt it. It has been about an hour since and there is still no swelling. If I had to guess I'd say it feels muscle related. I can flex my ring finger in a crimping motion and the tendon feels fine but if I try and push down or pull on anything with the finger open, its pretty excruciating but the pain is still coming from my forearm rather than finger or hand. It feels tight like a pulled muscle. any movement or pulling with the other fingers doesn't hurt. My ring finger is a little sore at the joint where it meets the hand but it is a very dull pain. Does anyone have any experience with a similar injury?

Ice that shhiiiiitttt! Even though it's not swollen. Take breaks in between rounds of icing so you don't give yourself frostbite. Elevate.

I haven't had that specific injury, I;ll be interested to see what other people have to say.

Sounds somewhat like a flexor unit strain.
You can google it and see what you think for yourself.
If you think it's a bad injury I would see a doctor rather than consulting the internet.

Not so good. You need to be examined to know for sure, but the first thing on my differential is that you tore the flexor digitorum superficialis, the thinner of the two layers of muscle that flex your finger, likely at the point where it attaches to the tendon. The pain down at the MCP joint suggests some bleeding in the sheath, from the torn muscle. You really should have a sports-med doc have a look at it, and brief you on how to rehab it effectively. Hope you heal quickly!
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
