What's your favorite grade to climb at? I think rock&ice or climbing mag has a "my favorite 5.10" section. just had me thinking. personally i like 5.10-, preferably moderate climbing up to a 5.10 crux. although the 11s I've done have been fun too.

personally I don't think difficulty is what necessarily makes a climb appealing (things like location, exposure, rock quality, quality of movement, uniqueness, perhaps history, etc), but that is just me.

Yea I would have to agree. If it has some unique moves, if its an amazing looking line and it puts up a challenge at whatever climbing level I may be at, then it will be one of my favorites. Dihedrals are where its at.

Dihedrals and aretes are my favorite features in a wall! And overhangs and ceilings.

I can't decide on one grade. Every year of high school was fun!

I climb those, walking on my hands.

5.7 trad, 5.9 sport. Depending on the area, of course, but that's generally what I can comfortably on-sight and be enjoying the climbing rather than stressed by it.

I'm not a strong climber anyways, but yeah I love 5.7 gear routes. The longer the better!

It's just such a fun grade. Easy enough to be fun, hard enough to be challenging, and often times can be pretty spicy!

5.10

From 5.10- to 5.10 plus, 5.10a to 5.10d, trad or sport, is the most common range for enjoyment and challenge on lead.

Er, though sometimes more into 5.11 depending on location (i.e. Indian creek, and some sport areas), but 5.10 is generally the most overall enjoyment.

Unless you start adding PG13, R and S ratings, then downgrade accordingly.

Personally..... I love it when: Looking up from below, the climb looks imposable, dangerous even....

But when you give it a go.... the secrets reveal themselves and the route goes down in and enjoyable manner.

hard to put a number on it.

Castle Rock Spire fit this bill.... its 11C

SuperFly in the ORG, another is 10C...

Double Dogleg in Josh ..... its 5.7

if its climbing .... its all good in my book.

This is pretty much how I feel as long as it's got decent gear or is well bolted.

12a is the best easy grade that can still get full value stars.

My favorite, so far, Grade IV.... but I suspect I'll enjoy the grade V and VI's more once I get to them. Yos is calling ;)

-2 numbers from my hardest sport redpoint
-2 numbers from my normal trad onsight level

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
