This is waaay ahead of time, but what, if any, spots in NC are good for tradding around November/December? I'd imagine not much, but you never know. (And yeah, if you can swing cold then everywhere is open year-round, I know.) Thanks!

Lots. Laurel knob, whitesides, rumbling bald, looking glass. The list goes on. NC has a lot of excellent late fall and winter trad climbing. The limiting factor tends to be rain that time of year as it is often wet.

For me, November is Shortoff season.

Lots of stuff stays warm in NC winter. Stone Mtn, Shortoff, Rumbling Bald, Laurel Knob, Asheboro boulders, Moore's boulders (maybe), Looking Glass. Like Brian said, if it's dry there are lots of choices that time of year.

Cedar rock and Whitesides are some of my favorites other than what has already been mentioned. Table Rock SC is another great winter option not too far from NC.

It would be shorter and easier to list NC areas that are not good to climb in Nov/Dec. Aside from a few north facing crags (Hawksbill, N side of LG, maybe Moores). Everything is just about right that time of year. Of course it depends on the day. Temps vary a lot then, but get in the sun about anywhere and you will be fine.

Try the 221 circuit thats near Table Rock for some great cragging. From what I remember it holds sun late in the day at some of those crags. Rumbling Bald.

September through May is generally awesome in NC. Lots of great places. In summer just go to north faces or higher altitude to escape the heat and humidity.

Fantastic, thanks for the info guys! I haven't actually been in NC during the winter months for a number of years, so my memory is quite fuzzy. Thanks!
