People seem to always be curious..."Why Evolution?"

The story goes something like this:

It started in the small state of New Hampshire. One of the first known records of a technical climb being done in the United States was in Huntington Ravine on the intimidating slopes of Mt. Washington, New Hampshire in 1910. From that day forth we have seen climbing evolve from using basic gear and clothing not designed specifically for the activity to witnessing more difficult and bold ascents throughout the world. The gear has become more specialized, sophisticated, stronger, and lighter.

The climbers have too and the spirit of adventure lives on. Evolution Rock + Fitness is the conduit between this rich history and the future of climbing.

The International Olympic Committee will determine if the sport will be accepted into the 2020 Olympic Games in late 2013. The buzz is out. Collegiate teams are being formed around the country. Youth clubs and teams are popping up everywhere. To prepare for this Evolution Rock + Fitness is building a state-of-the-art facility in the state where it all began. We are raising the bar on the standards of what makes a climbing gym experience great by taking the best components of what we have seen in some of the best gyms around the world. By doing this we will provide the framework for future climbers of all levels and abilities to push their limits.

Join us in this exciting journey. Evolve yourself and find YOUR Route!

Our Mission is Simple:

To build upon, strengthen and evolve with climbers and the climbing community.

Our Facility:

Evolution Rock + Fitness is proud to provide the most modern and extensive indoor climbing walls in northern New England. With 16,000 square feet of climbing surface, there is something for everyone at all levels of ability: beginner, intermediate, advanced lead climbing, speed climbing and bouldering. Featured walls include a speed climbing wall and bouldering wall built out of the latest Rockwerx Gym Rock Light product so that it can be changed easily in the future - evolving with the growing needs of future climbers.

Our gym also includes equipment for cross training including a campus board and systems wall, cardio machines, free weights and a multipurpose room for yoga, Pilates and group exercise classes.

This is a great gym, really good walls, an excellent, well built facility and Hilary seems to have collected a bunch of good people to work with her. I set a few routes on a weekend before it was open and was impressed by the place. I am looking forward to getting back on the "official opening day". I just wish it wasn't two states away for me - another reason to get my butt moved up to NH!

James, if you contact one of the site owners (like www.mountainproject.com/u/nick-wilder//14015), you could also get this listed with the other gyms in the general gym section.

Rockwerx sure knows how to build v. good climbing walls. Look for another gym with them in Watertown, MA next.
