Which would have better weather mid May? Also, is there a climber friendly town near enchanted tower for showers/laundry/food?

Gotta second that. The town of Datil has a campground and I think you can buy a shower there. If not just bring a solar shower. They work great and are often too hot by the end of the day and you have to add cool water.

While jack's is pretty fun, it doesn't have Goliath.

Need urgent info
Taking two kids to camp at Enchanted Tower on Monday 3/22. Never been there and am psyched. Does anyone know if there is snow on the ground. I assume temps are near or below freezing at night. True?

I'm guessing there will be snow on the ground and approach road and that it's still freezing (just barely) over night. It's been a good winter down that way this season. If you go, let us know.

Last year my friend got chased away by a bobcat when going to the bathroom. It was funny, I heard it growl and then saw my friend running out of the tree line pulling her pants up. Needless to say, she still gets heckled about that today.

Watch out for elk... Last fall I saw well over 50 or 60 on the last part of the drive in.

HAHA! Last spring same thing happened to my girlfriend, except she had just gotten out of the tent to take a leak. when she turned on the flashlight we heard a loud hiss/snarl, i don't even think she got her pants on before she came flying into the tent!! for the next half hour or so we were hearing strange growls and very light footsteps around the tent.

great place though! cant wait for it to warm up a bit more.

Just back from the Enchanted Tower from our planned overnight. We drove in yesterday. The roads were clear, just a few puddles on the dirt road after the Ranch house. The campsites were mostly dry with scattered snow patches on the ground. Had a nice day climbing, a fire and stars at night. Awoke this morning to clouds and had full on snow by 8am. By the time we packed up, everything was covered with snow, the campsite, the road, the trees. It was still snowing hard when we closed the gate. I'm guessing the ground won't be clear for a few days. Oh, and it was cooooold at night. Well below freezing.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
