Cibola NF is not under fire restrictions at this time, so the tower is open and accessable via Davenport or a short hike from FR6. I was there recently and the road is easily passable with a few minor snow drifts (melting fast). I recommend decent ground clearance due to some rocks in the road. Temps were perfect for good climbing.
Disappointingly, I talked to the caretaker two weeks ago and he claims that the south access through private land is closed at this time. Work continues with the landowner and caretaker to establish set dates at which the south access would be open. When dates are finalized they will be posted.
Now some truly bad news... winter here was dry and warm, snowpack was dismal. I am afraid the forest service may start closures for fire danger soon, and not just at the tower but in many southwestern states.
