Ellery Bowl is a small buttress that sits above Ellery Lake a few miles east of the entrance to Tuolumne. The buttress is white and relatively clean, and it sits at the lowest point at the top of the "Bowl", usually guarded by a small snowfield.
Park at Ellery Lake, cross the damn, and head more or less straight up the talus field towards the buttress (although slighty to the right). There is a trail of sorts, but expect a slog.

Park, cross the dam, and hike up the steep, loose slope to the lowest tongue of rock that is usually guarded by a steep patch of ice/snow. Why did you endure this grueling 45 minute slog for just two pitches?P1: Ascend a beautiful p...[more] Browse More Classics in CA
