Elephant Rock

Description 

No Shade! Honestly in the middle of a field so it's actually quite peaceful to climb on.

Never crowded, which is awesome because it is one of the few natural arches that is good for bouldering.

People often say that there is no decent rock climbing routes in Kansas ANYWHERE! This is all about to change with the discovery of Elephant Rock outside of Traer, Oberlin. To the climbers who have seen/climbed thi feature many of them call it the "es pontas of Kansas". Very unique holds ranging from the tinniest cripes and slabs to the biggest jugs anyone has ever seen. No one knows if this is private or public area.

Getting There 

From Oberlin take Hwy US 36 5 miles West to the Traer Road. Go North 7 miles then 2 West to the village of Traer. From Traer take the only road South out of town for about 1 mile. Elephant Rock sits on private property on a bluff west of the road.
