Hi, i'm looking for climbing partner(s) to climb at EPC Approx Nov 10-28. Seems the perfect time of year... rainy season finished and good temperatures.

Apparently there are not a lot of climbers there at the moment so i'd rather find partners before.. to make sure... otherwise i'll whing it.

Flights from Denver to San Antonio are dirt cheap from 108$. And the direct bus from there to Monterrey sounds easy, then a local bus for an hour. That's what i'll be doing unless someone if driving down.

I'm up for 5.12's but happy to do plenty of easier stuff including multipitch.

Call or shoot me an email or text if interested.

If you do cross the border by bus, make sure it is a direct line. Call to make sure the bus travels the pay/toll roads and most important make sure you are going during the day. Especially on the return trip from Monterrey. A bus company will probably not be forthcoming but I would call and ask if they have had any safety issues recently with the time of day you will be going down and coming back. Buses are targeted by the narcos so be safe.

Also getting your tourist visa before you leave, not sure if you can still do that, might make the trip a little more pleasant.

Once you make it to EPC you do not have to worry about anything but having a good time.

Safe travels!

Hi Josh, thanks for this. I've already checked out the buses and they run direct from San Antonio to Monterrey via a wait at the border. In case anyone is interested it's 76$ round trip, and they run frequently. Thanks for reminding me to look into the visa..

Hey, I would second the stuff Josh stated. That being said, I ended up taking the same bus as you and was the only non spanish speaker on the bus, therefore I never got a tourist visa because I didnt know what they were saying. On the bus back, although I tried to make sure to not travel at night, I was on the bus through the night. Nothing bad happened.

Again, once in EPC and Hidalgo, it appears to be very safe. I felt comfortable walking through town at night.

A few years back I went out one night to Monterrey and had a great time (other than being thrown in a cop car and bribing the police). Nowadays I would most definitely stay away from that city at night.

Have fun, its a great place with great people and great climbing. Make sure to ask around for the "face burgers" (burgers the size of your face).

THere really arent many climbers down there other than close to Christmas and New Years, but you will find some.

P.S. Get some coffee at El Buho in town and say hi to the family for me!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
