Here's a cool site that has every single location used in the film completely dialed. Even camera angles are discussed. A must see for "Eiger Sanction" fans.
Anybody seen this one yet? www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2229928217/ Its about the Huber bro's attempt at the Nose speed record. Not a work of fiction, but a climbing documentary.
I've seen it and its worth a watch. For climbers, the most notable thing is their proficiency and efficiency. It also has some interesting sub-plots about the brothers personal dynamics.
Though it has come out since the original post, the German film, Nordwand, is excellent for a climbing movie. About the ill-fated attempt on the Eiger north face, the film shows stunning scenery as Hinterstoisser an Kurz attempt the FA.
I really like Nordwand. It's a little over-dramatic here and there, but the way the climbing is filmed is great and Kurz/Hinterstoisser's banter as climbing partners was entertaining.
Looks like lots of "Eiger Sanction" folks like me, I of course have a copy, but no one I think has mentioned a film I got for Christmas "North Face", a German film done period style about Toni Kurz and Andi Hinterstoisser's attempt on the Eiger very good film, the scene with Toni unbraiding the rope with his teeth, arm frozen are quite gripping. I thought attention to detail as to climbing scenes was spot on.
