I would like to update the Gross Res area but it was added by another user. I tried PMing him, but with no response. How do I get permission to modify this area?? It needs a couple of sub-areas added and a whole bunch of routes updated.

Contact your area administrator. They should be able to help you out. Note - Kristine Hoffman is not really an administrator for all areas. She is helping out with GPS information, so try the other guys.

DSeltzer,

I can help. FWIW, the person who seemed to have added the area for Gross Reservoir has logged into the website in the last few days.

Nonetheless, I can try to help out as an admin or as an intermediary.

In general, we don't just reassign areas because another user wants to take it over. That would not be a great precedent.

As far as subareas go, we can do that we a reorganization. That takes an admin. We create the subareas (with your info), then move the existing routes to the appropriate subareas. Then we move the subareas into the original area.

There are other options.

I totally understand about not re-assigning areas. That makes sense. I'm not really looking to take it over in any case, it just needs to be sub-divided into a couple areas so people can add existing routes in a way that makes sense. Whats the easiest way to do this? Should i just PM you the subarea info? Or should I create three new 'Colorado' subareas and then let you/someone know that they need to be moved as 'Gross Res' subareas?

Thanks for the help Leo.

2 ways to do it:

1) post the subareas under Colorado. Indicate in your text that they belong under Gross Reservoir. Indicate which problems/routes go in which subarea. I'll find them, move the problems/routes, and then I'll move the subareas.

2) email me this information in a clear email (not too much shorthand), and I'll figure this out...perhaps with a few questions to sort things out.

Remember, we'll have to put all the problems/routes under some subarea. If you don't know where a problem/route goes, we can do a Miscellaneous subarea.

Also, if you want to update existing problem/route information, either submit a comment for the problem/route or email me the information.
Thanks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
