Does anyone here have any first hand experience with this rope? Looks like they can be had for about $100 at bentgate.

I have not used that rope but i have had many edelrid ropes and love them. The cheapest 70 around is the boa at about 130 140 even comes in bypattern. I won my first rope from them in a raffle used it mercilessly For trad cragging and even a little jugging still going strong. It took alot more abuse then my sterling or bluewater ropes. Ymmv

Silly German names, so confusing.

Yeah, I've had the 60m for 2 or 3 years and have been pretty hard on it. I wanted to buy a cheaper rope cause like I said I'm hard on them. It's been a good rope. Took a few uses to break in, but otherwise handles fine. It's proven to be pretty durable too. Mine is now starting to get kinda swollen with dirt and grit so I'm thinking about replacing it soon.

Bought the cheapest 70 they made, a 9.8 on some super promo for 69 bucks three summers ago. Whipped on it a ton, and it was the longest lasting rope I've had. Just bought a sterling 9.8 so we will see.

Not sure what model it was though.

It's been my gym rope (LOTS of falls) for almost three years now and I'm only now thinking of retiring it. Great rope, especially for the price.

The 60m is on ebay for 80.00 new right now. Sale ends tomorrow.

Edelweiss was my first kernmantle rope back in '75. Still have a short piece, now woven into a rope hammock.Strong, flexible, loved that first rope.

I have one, a 9.8mm x 60m- bought it back in April when I got started climbing. For my first climbing season it got a fair amount of use both on TR and sport. I have no complaints with it thus far, though I have noticed that it tends to not be completely round with a load (i.e- when lowering). I don't remember if it was that way when new though. It ties easily and is definitely not stiff.

This sounds like a very good rope. Does anyone know why it is not shown on the Edelweiss website? Did they discontinue it for some reason?

Discontinued more than a year ago. It's a decent rope, nothing special, certainly worth what I paid though.

Absolutely love my Edelweiss don't know what model it is but it is a 10mm 70meter that I use for cragging fallen on it maybe 6times showing no wear bought as my workhorse rope and has held up well, about a season at this point. I think I paid 125 for it.
