Ecrin Roc Foam Adjustment

How do you change between the thick and thin foam? It took me forever to change and was a pain, so I'm hoping there is an easier way. Are the two grey tabs that connect the headband to the helmet supposed to pop out? Also, are they suppose to be vertical? My headband looks a little weird and I just noticed that both of these tabs aren't exactly vertical.
