Dynema sling retired?

Not sure how, but I just found one of my slings in a pile of laundry that came out of the dryer. I understand that dynema is either sensitive to heat or has a low melting point. It's only 10 dollars to replace

Dyneema has a melting point around 300F, which is easy to reach with the friction of soft goods against each other in high-load situations, but if your dryer is pumping out 300F, you might have bigger problems. Like using an oven to dry your clothes.

According to GE, the high setting on dryers is 135F. I think I've had dyneema get hotter than that sitting in the sun at the base of a crag.

I'd say it's fine, but, like you said, it's only $10 to replace.

Send it to me. Clean slings are safer than dirty ones. Seriously, if it's not melted, it's fine.

Unless that load of laundry involved bleach in the washing machine. If so, toss that sling.

It's most likely perfectly fine, but if you use it, will you have that nagging voice inside your head telling you it's gonna break at any moment? If so, 10 bucks is probably worth peace of mind.

That is probably the biggest reason to replace it. Gear you don't trust is just one more thing to worry about, and climbing is often more a mental game than a physical one.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
