DrTopo is back!

Here's the scoop from the splash page. Michael's post falls a bit short of actually explaining what's going on here:

DrTopo.com is coming back!

After almost two years of DrTopo.com being shut down, I decided that it was time to bring this great collection of mini guides back to the climbing community. The idea was simple, but finding the time to accomplish this was harder than I had anticipated.

The motivation came after looking online for a topo of Black Mountain California, only to finding a topo that we wrote 10 years ago. I realized then that re-opening the site would benefit the climbing community. So between moving from East Coast to West Coast and then back to the East Coast for my daughter, Gaïa, to be born closer to family, I was finally able to find the time to get a very simple version of the site running.

It's important to keep in mind that the topos available on the site were written a while ago by Alex, for whom we can be very grateful for all the time, effort, and love he put into making them; but by now the data is most likely outdated. Please be especially careful about the information given about the bolts, anchors, and access issues. Keep in mind that climbing can be a dangerous sport if the necessary precautions are not taken seriously.

As you can see, the site is in Alpha stage, which means that there is still a lot more to come. So if you are a web designer, a web developer or you want to help with the content, email me at contributors@drtopo.com.

AWESOME!!! Alex is a hell of a guy! Climbed with him in the Valley and at Rocktown in 2003'ish! Thank you!!!!

Jump Mantle (5.9) near Thriller was a problem we did! Heady jump over a creek bed on a ankle breaking landing!!!

Anybody else having problems opening the pdf files they download from the site? Mine are all 'damaged' and won't open in Adobe Reader. I'm just wondering if it's the source or me. Thanks.
