Richard Shore on P1 of the North Face on Dog Dome

Description

Dog Dome is a smaller formation located on the northeast shoulder of the more well-known Lembert Dome. Dog Dome is about 300' tall and hosts four recorded routes, the most popular being the North Face (5.8, 3 pitches).

Getting There

About 1/4 mile east from the TM Lodge, jump on the Dog Lake/Young Lakes Trail and hike north. Once in the open meadow, the north face of Dog Dome can be seen off to your left. Allow 15-20 minutes for the approach.

North Face 5.8  CA : Yosemite National Park : ... : Dog Dome
A fun but somewhat forgettable 3-pitch route up the center of Dog Dome. Varied, with some OW, hand-jamming, chimneying, and face thrown in the mix.P1) Head up the obvious 8" wide crack in a shallow LF corner. Small gear can be placed in a crack on the right. Belay at a nice stance with a few fixed pins and supplemental gear. 5.7P2) A section of steep hand jamming through a bulge leads to an easy chimney. Again, belay at a great ledge. 5.8.P3) A short LF corner leads to fun face and knob pulling ...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
